Accreditation Council for Educational Standards of Schools and
Universities (ACESSU)
PROCESS OF EDUCATIONAL ACCREDITATIONS
In common definition, ACCREDITATION is a
process in which activities of educational institution are thorough,
carefully and completely examined by competent authority
(non-governmental accrediting agencies, such as Accreditation
Council for Educational Standards of Schools and Universities -
ACESSU) that would issue certification of competency, authority, and
credibility.
Higher education accreditation is an
educational quality assurance process, where an educational institution
or program is evaluated by the independent external entity (accrediting
agency) to determine if the educational institution meets applicable
standards for education offered. When an educational institution
conforms to the standards of the educational process, accredited status
is granted by the accrediting agency.
In many countries around the world, accreditation for higher education is performed by a governmental agency, such as a ministry of education. In such cases, the ministry of education performs a licensing process that is similar to the accreditation process.
Nevertheless, additional educational accreditation performed by independent authority, such as Accreditation Council for Educational Standards of Schools and Universities - ACESSU, can be a useful achievement in the form of additional assurance for students and increased level of trustworthiness, reliability and dependability for the educational institution.
Compared to other countries, the United States has no ministry of education and assurance process (accreditation) always performed by private accrediting agencies (very often membership associations).
Accreditation entities
have no preferential status from a legal point of view and all are
operating under the same legal doctrine. Age of creation is not
making one accreditation organization more legitimate compared to
any other organizations. Each accreditation organization has the
same scale of abilities to perform accreditations.
EDUCATIONAL ACCREDITATIONS AT GLANCE
Accreditation by an independent accreditation entity can provide multiple additional benefits for any institution offering educational services.
Higher education accreditation (for a single program or for the entire school, college or university) is a quality assurance process when services and operations of an educational institution or program(s) are evaluated by an independent entity that is not related to the original institution. Accreditations performed for the purpose of determination if reasonable standards of education are met. Upon successful completion of evaluation, accredited status is granted to the accreditation-seeking institution.
In many countries around the
world, the function of educational accreditation for higher
education is conducted by governmental organizations, for example,
a ministry of education. In some countries, such as the United
States, the quality assurance process is performed by private
membership organizations and is fully independent of governmental
control. Even if your country’s government performs accreditation of
local educational institutions, it is always beneficial to have a
second form of accreditation performed by an independent international
organization that is not under control of the local government.
Independent accreditation is a form of additional assurance that not
only your own country’s standards, but also global (worldwide)
standards of education are met. Accreditation Council for
Educational Standards of Schools and Universities (ACESSU) is that
international organization (located in the United States) that can provide accreditation that is
based on the acceptable worldwide standards for education.
